3rd & Bird teaches children the value of being an active member of their community. As Samuel and Muffin participate in community activities such as parades, building projects, or assisting an elderly bird, they develop social skills that are integral to the functioning of a healthy community. In every episode Samuel and Muffin learn lessons about diversity, tolerance or perseverance.
3rd & Bird also supports bird and wildlife conservation. Here we have activities, games and EYFS curriculum linked lesson ideas that embrace the important values of 3rd & Bird. These are FREE for you to download.

The spring and summer months are busy for wildlife, and birds are no exception. You will notice more birds singing from April onwards, as birds begin looking for a mate. This is followed by a hectic time as they start gathering materials to build thier nests. Look for them collecting twigs, leaves and moss to make safe and cosy homes for thier new family!
Baby animals and growth are always popular themes for the summer term, offering a huge range of learning opportunities.
Spring also heralds the return of our summer migrants. Summer migrants are birds that have spent the winter months in warmer areas, such as Africa. They face all sorts of dangers, flying thousands of miles to return to our shores. One of the first to arrive in March is the sand martin. The more familiar swallows, swifts and house martins follow - an did you know that the cuckoo is also a summer migrant?
Activities within this booklet support these three important areas. They have been designed to be easy to use and quick to digest for group workers, practitioners and teachers.

Easter activities for Nurseries
To celebrate the launch of the first ever DVD release, Bird's the Word! on 30th March we recently sent a ‘Lovebird’s House’ mailer with activities to UK nurseries – these included finger puppets, a reward tree and postcards.
